dr. F. van Eijnatten

Biography

From 1988 till his retirement in 2016 Dr. Frans M. van Eijnatten was an associate professor of Organizational Renewal and Complexity at the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS), Human Performance Management (HPM) group. He served as chair of program committees at both departmental and university levels, and was program manager of the Innovation Management master. Since his retirement in August 2016 he joins the ITEM group as a part-time lecturer, seconding courses such as Design Science Methodology and Methodology for IE Research. At departmental level he is a member of the team that is preparing the re-accreditation of the School IE. At TIAS Business School in Tilburg he teaches business research methods for the Executive Master of Operations and Supply Chain Excellence.

Dr. Van Eijnatten has a bachelor/ master degree in Organizational Psychology from Tilburg University, and a Ph.D. from Radboud University Nijmegen. In his research at TU/e he explored the implications of Complexity theories for Socio-Technical Systems Design and Organizational Renewal. He co-edited two guest issues about that topic for the Journal of Organizational Change Management and The Learning Organization. He founded and coordinated the European Chaos and Complexity in Organizations Network ECCON, and participated in several European-Union-funded research and development programs (4th, 5th Framework Programs). Also, he was reviewer for the 6th/ 7th Framework Programs, and served as invited expert. In 2004 and 2010, he was a visiting research fellow at Yokohama National University, Graduate School of Environment and Information Sciences, Eco-Technology Systems Laboratory, Yokohama, Japan.

Dr. van Eijnatten served as a methodological advisor for PhD students participating in NOBO and NOBEM, for over 15 years.
